The Cooperative Nursery School Experience
As a cooperative nursery school, BNS members own and operate the school and, with the guidance of teachers trained in early childhood development, share the responsibility for educating the children.
You may wonder if a co-op nursery school is right for your family. It has many benefits for both children and parents – providing valuable lessons and experiences that can’t be found elsewhere.
Co-ops Benefit Parents and Children
The co-op experience is a special opportunity to play an integral role in your child(ren)’s early education. In a cooperative nursery school, parents assist the teachers in the classrooms on a rotating basis. This provides parents with the opportunity to observe and understand their children in a school setting and in relation to their peers.
Parents learn useful methods and ideas for their own families by observing the teachers and other parents. Plus, they bring their own perspectives and experiences to share, enriching the school with their expertise and life experiences.
For children, the cooperative preschool environment provides the opportunity to ease into an exciting new world of learning. BNS is a community built of families. Within that community, children learn that school is a fun, safe and interesting place to be – full of love and security.
At BNS, we get to know each other’s families and watch each child blossom. These relationships can last throughout a lifetime. The BNS alumni network extends back over 60 years, and is the basis for our strong and caring community.
